Golf in Cairo                                                                          

In 1997 the first of five new golf courses opened around Cairo to complement two existing courses, each more than a century old. The contrasts are dramatic. One can play literally in the shadows of the great pyramids of Giza or on an island in the center of Cairo's booming metropolis. Choose a course with dramatic hilltop views and winding fairways; try an oasis in the middle of the Sahara desert; play next to an ultra-modern amusement park; or, accept the challenge of a course built on streams and ponds that run through 14 of the 18 holes.
